There are many window designs on the market rightly called a “classic” and the flush casement window is definitely deserving of that tag.

First developed back in the 19^th Century, a ‘flush’ casement is so-called because when the window (or sash) is shut, it creates a flat surface on the exterior due to the flush fitting.

Very few properties in the UK still have an original set of timber flush casement windows fitted to them, apart from some residences in conservation areas and a scattering of Listed Buildings.

We would hate for them to become completely extinct, and so we decided to do something about it – TWC created the ‘Envisage’ range, a modern form of flush casement window inspired by its traditional counterpart.

The proportions are the same. The detailing is the same. But, one thing is very different – Envisage is manufactured from UPVC, rather than timber, not that you would notice to look at it. Placed next to each other, they have identical aesthetic hallmarks.

We have neglected to use timber and opted for UPVC instead because the latter provides far greater insulation and doesn’t need upkeep of any kind (sanding, varnishing, repainting etc.). It is completely weather-resistant and all you have to do when any dirtiness covers the frame is wipe it away with a wet cloth. Repairing timber flush casement windows is a constant job and will prove a thankless task.
