You are very likely to have Building Regulations approval should you require it when buying the UltraRoof as it has been approved by LABC (Local Authority Building Control). This will all be clarified by our design consultants as they have detailed knowledge of building regulations. Should Building Regulations approval be necessary, we’re happy to get it on your behalf instead of forcing you do it on your own.

Local authorities give the UltraRoof the green light as they recognise that it is a quality building product fit for numerous types of application. The very mention of Building Regulations will intimidate some people, but please don’t let that be the case as we are more than happy to do the legwork to make sure that you are permitted to proceed with the work. Polymer slates are used to create this inventive slated roof system and these slates are virtually maintenance-free, but still offer amazing durability. Just like on an authentic slate, you can see natural peaks and plateaux’s, and they come in a series of traditional coloured finishes - carbon grey, terra brick (red), and harvest brown.

You also get to choose from two types of ridge cap - an ‘armadillo’ style ridge cap which best matches the effect and colour of the polymer slates, and smooth aluminium ridge cap if you prefer a sleek and contemporary style. Your colour choice is best being similar to the colour used on the tiles on the roof of the house or the colour of your glazing e.g. bronze, aqua or blue tint. They tints provide differing amounts of light transmission and solar heat reflection.

You have the option of including glazed sections in the UltraRoof and we suggest that you choose from our performance glass range to ensure that the cleverness of the solid roof units are matched by innovative glazing that controls heat transference and thermal efficiency. Think about the following four things when choosing your glass:

Tint – Despite all of our glazing options being transparent, they do come with a slight tint. The tint can affect the whole ambience of the room.

U-Value - A U-value measures internal heat loss. The lower the U-value, the better insulation provided by the glass.

Solar Heat Reflection - This represents how much solar energy generated by the sun is stopped from passing through the glass into a room.

Light Transmission - This represents how much light manages to force its way through the glass.
